CRS 2023 - Second-Year Campers

Camp starts in nearly three months! To celebrate, we’re spotlighting a few second-year campers who will return to CRS this summer.

Second years act as mentors to first year campers by sharing their experiences and offering guidance. They arrive to camp a few days earlier for training with staff and time to build their relationship as a team. Below, you will hear about a few campers joining us for our second session as they share their passions and what they’re looking forward to this summer.

Paula Bote, Spain

Hey everyone!

My name is Paula, my pronouns are she/her and I'm from Spain. Music is one of my passions and I love spending time playing or listening to it (in fact I think I wouldn't be able to do many of my everyday tasks without something playing in the background). I also really like languages, reading and I enjoy learning overall.

I'm really excited to be part of this team and live the CRS experience, now from another perspective! I am really looking forward to spending this summer together, getting to know better the campers that were in the in-person camp with me last year and, most importantly, meeting all of you!

Alissa Yeung, Japan

My name is Alissa Yeung and I’m from Shizuoka, Japan. I was in VCRS last summer. My pronouns are she/her.

I’m an IB student and I love learning new  things. I also like talking with new people so I’m so excited to get to know everyone!

I like to play tennis and I also like to read. I have been playing tennis for about 10 years and I also started golf a couple of years ago.

I’m so excited to go to the in person CRS and get to know new people! I hope to make this summer special and have tons of fun!

Sora Kim-Steiger, California

My name is Sora, my pronouns are she/her, and I’m from San Francisco, California. One of my interests is ornithology (the study of birds). I love going on hikes near the forests/beaches in my area. Along with that, I also consider myself to be an athlete. I play water polo and swim team. In my free time, I write creative writing pieces like short stories and poems.

Overall, I’m really excited to come back this year and meet the new 1st year campers and my fellow 2nd years. I can’t wait to see what this season will be like, and I hope everyone is doing well.

Daani Tuinman, The Netherlands

Heyhey everyone!

My name is Daani, I'm from The Netherlands and my pronouns are she/her. Some of my passions are music and art, I really enjoy just sitting outside or at my desk and painting the hours away listening to all of my favourite songs. I'm a very talkative person, I love having conversations and getting to know new people.

I'm very excited to meet you guys and welcome the 1st year campers with you all.

I hope that the 2nd year experience will be an opportunity for me to further improve my leadership, bonding and communication skills.

But overall, I hope to be as much of an inspiration to 2023's 1st years as the 2nd years in my season were for me.
