Below is the September letter from our Executive Director, Helene Mattera. Read her message:

Dear Friends,

As we enter a new fall season, we look back on this summer in gratitude. Even though another year has passed without welcoming campers in person to Camp Rising Sun, we are grateful to have been able to host several virtual sessions that felt just as fulfilling in their own way. As a result, we now have over 100 brand new alumni who have joined our global community!

The past year has shown us just how creative and nimble we can be. We’ve adapted to the vast changes happening around us and have used this time as an opportunity to expand our programs and impact. Virtual Camp Rising Sun and our Virtual Intensives are permanent additions to our programming and will allow us to reach even more young people across the globe for years to come. We are moving forward intentionally and with organizational sustainability in mind.

This month, I'm pleased to share a few exciting updates. We just published our Annual Report for the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year, in which we highlight achievements like the fact that we had over 538 donors who supported our work last year. Also, be sure to check out the other recent posts on our blog to read about the incredible projects our campers worked on during our virtual programs this summer.

Thank you, as always, for being a part of our community and we hope you had a wonderful summer. We look forward to next year when our tents will be full and young people from around the world will once again roam our grassy hills.

With gratitude,
Helene Mattera
LAJF Executive Director
