Janessa Schilmoeller (she/her)
Janessa is a community engagement and program management professional with over a decade of experience supporting globally mobile communities, cross-cultural learning, and high-impact educational programs.
Janessa attended Camp Rising Sun in 2005 and 2006 before working as a staff member in 2010 and 2011. She returned to LAJF as Program Director from 2016 – 2019. Later, Janessa managed federally funded international education grants before moving overseas. Janessa currently lives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she specializes in building strong, resilient diplomatic communities abroad.
Cristian Mendoza Gomez (he/they)
Cristian was a camper in 2015 and 2016. After camp, he attended United World College - USA, looking to further expand their international education and lessons learned at CRS. UWC-USA was where they discovered their love for community health, health education, and holistic wellness. He received his B.S. in Public Health and Sociology from American University, and is passionate about improving health outcomes for marginalized populations, by addressing the social-structural determinants of health.
He now is an Administrative Associate for a public health research center, and is a part time graduate student, pursuing their MPH in Epidemiology. Cristian is originally from the Bay Area, CA but now calls Washington, D.C. home.
