Camp Rising Sun Red Hook
For my son, it was the first time he traveled abroad and everything was so unfamiliar to him. Throughout this experience he became more organized, independent and responsible. He gained more knowledge about almost everything. - Parent of a 2013 Camper
The Red Hook campus for young men is located in a beautiful rustic setting with a Camp Rising Sun history of over 80 years.
The dining hall is in a two storied building fondly called the "Old House," which dates back to colonial times. Other facilities include an Infirmary, the International Theater -- a sheltered outdoor space for all-camp gatherings, drama productions and the like -- and workshop areas for nature studies, journalism, art, photography and construction projects.
Emily Dickinson Hall sees activity throughout the day as campers come for instruction, conversation, an evening discussion, to relax at the piano or with a game of chess. The boys sleep in tents on wooden platforms in the woods, a short walk away from a basketball court, swimming pool, tennis court and athletic fields.
